Dating from 1242 The Bear is the oldest pub in Oxford and a real hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. Students, locals and tourists drop in to enjoy a great pint of real ale and good, home-cooked food in these historic premises.

Welcome to Beerd Oxford. We use only the finest ingredients to make our pizzas. The dough is made with 00’ Molino Caputo flour all the way from Naples, and our sauce is made with the finest plum tomatoes from Southern Italy. Our meats and cheeses are sourced from artisan suppliers across Italy and Spain, with thanks to our friends at The Chefs Deli.

The Castle Tavern is Hook Norton Brewery's first Oxford site. They've been looking for the right acquisition for well since the Brewery was built. We'll be trading through December '16 and January '17.

We then aim to close for a full refurbishment and open again late April. We aim to have 16 draught beers available, 8 cask and 8 keg. So a good mix of cask and craft beer. We're looking to work closely with breweries and micro-breweries local to Oxford and surrounding counties. We want to have a varied bottled beer selection. We'll also have some fantastic wine and premium spirit selection.

We will be serving food when we re-open but it'll be pretty informal... Food that you can eat while drinking beer; think Gourmet pizza and cold cut meats.
