It was very sad to hear a few weeks ago that The Ampleforth Arms had closed down in Risinghurst. For those that don’t know, this was the local drinking establishment to C.S Lewis, author of the Narnia books.
It’s a great local pub situated in the middle of Risinghurst and boasts a great number of facilities. Its beer garden alone is one of the biggest in Oxford. The pub has since been put up for sale for over £600,000. The worry is if the pub does not bag a buyer soon, it could be knocked down and turned into an alternative investment. With more pubs shutting down every week, let’s see if we can come together and save this historic public house.
Here at Pubs Of Oxford we are really keen to keep this pub open and alive. If there is anyone out looking for a great investment then please step forward. It would be great to keep the local pub for the community of Risinghurst open and turn it into a fun, profitable venture.
