Old Black Horse

add to fav
Get the most out of your visit to Oxford by staying at the Old Black Horse. The Old Black Horse is a 17th Century Coaching Inn located five minutes from the centre of Oxford at the end of the High Street. The historic buildings of the city and university are nearby and Magdalen College with its beautiful deer park is just across the river.

We offer superior bed and breakfast accommodation with a range of single, twin, double and family rooms. All our bedrooms are en-suite and are equipped with Free Wireless Internet access, remote control television, direct dial telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.

If you are contemplating a longer stay we recommend staying in one of our Home-from-home Suites that provide all the facilities of home while you’re away from home. The Old Black Horse is centrally located, easy to find and easy to reach by public or private transport. London and Airport Coaches stop outside and we have a large secure car park.

Back in the 17th Century, many of our guests required stables and accommodation for their servants. To satisfy their needs, behind the Inn, a large yard was constructed with suitable outbuildings. Today, with far fewer travellers arriving by carriage or on horseback we have converted these outbuildings into delightful, self-contained suites.

Old Bookbinders
Sunday Opens : 12:00 | Closes : 23:00

Old Bookbinders

add to fav
Oxford's "Best kept Secret" since 1869.

The Old Bookbinders is a family-run pub sitting deep in the heart of Jericho shying away from the hustle and bustle of Walton Street. Just a short walk away from the city centre, the historic suburb of Jericho is one of Oxford’s finest with a strong community feel and a reputation for its quirky nature. One of Jericho’s few remaining pubs The Bookies manages to hold on to the charm and quirkiness of public houses from yesteryear.

Re-opening its doors in 2011, the Sadones family tried to prove it was possible to serve quality food in a traditional pub atmosphere; wanting to avoid jumping on the “gastro-pub” bandwagon. We serve food six days a week, keeping it simple in style and honest in price.

We are dog, child and student friendly (as long as they’re well behaved) so bring the whole family and come say “Hello!” to Michel, Josh, Jacky and Belle; Jericho’s newest residents.

Original Swan
Sunday Opens : 12:00 | Closes : 00:00

Original Swan

add to fav
The Original Swan has been the favourite 'haunt' of Cowley locals for decades - and literally the favourite haunt of the resident pub ghost for about 50 years. During the mid 19th century there were two pubs with the name 'Swan' at Temple Cowley. The present pub was originally built in 1854 and changed it's name to the Original Swan in 1880 to avoid confusion (even though the other Swan was built first). The pub was rebuilt in 1930 and was bought by Arkell's at the end of 1997.

One of Arkell's more down-to-earth pubs on the boundary between Cowley and Oxford, it has a lounge and public bar - and is one of those pubs that is an essential part of the local community. It's somewhere where local workers come to relax at the end of the day and where local people can meet up to enjoy a drink.

Perch Inn
Sunday Opens : 10:30 | Closes : 23:00

Perch Inn

add to fav
An Oxford institution as old as the university.

The Perch is one of Oxford’s oldest pubs. We’re just a few minutes walk from the Isis (Oxford’s stretch of the Thames) and Port Meadow, a historic common stretching from Jericho to Wolvercote.

In the summer, our garden is the envy of the whole city, and our 17th century plaster-rubble building with its traditional thatched roof will charm even the most seasoned pub-goers.

There’s been a pub on our site for at least 800 years. In those 800 years, we’ve been a favourite of some of Britain’s best poets and authors, a frequent haunt of Inspector Morse, and one of the most influential venues in the British Jazz scene.

As of Spring 2015, we’ve conducted a full scale renovation to bring a traditional pub into the modern world, and ensure we’ll be around for the next 800 years.

We provide a refuge for everyone who loves great food and drink – whether they’re thirsty students, hungry walkers, exploring families, muddy dogs, or adventurous visitors.

Raoul's

add to fav
Here at Raoul's, we genuinely love what we do. We know we aren't everyone's cup of tea but we work really hard to give you, the customer, a fantastic drinking experience. We are extremely passionate about anything drinkable and we believe that passion is translated into our beverages.

We only employ full time professional bartenders.

We only use 100% pressed apple, pineapple and tomato juice. We squeeze our lemon, lime, grapefruit and orange juice every day.
We use a huge amount of homemade ingredients, from bitters and syrups to falernum and sherberts. All made on site with natural ingredients. We love fresh fruit and we use more fruit in our drinks than any other bar in Oxford.
We have one of the largest selections of liquor in the country.

We sell drinks that are great value, considering the ingredients and effort that go into them. We don't operate "happy hours" like many other bars. We truly believe that you get what you pay for. When ordering drinks in other bars why not ask the bartender how much liquor you are getting in your cocktail, or whether the lemon juice used is freshly squeezed or "bought in".

Rickety Press

Rickety Press

add to fav
Located just a short walk from Oxford city centre, on a quiet side road in the heart of historic Jericho, the Rickety Press is both a traditional local pub and an acclaimed restaurant. You’ll find a warm friendly welcome at the Rickety whether you’re joining us simply to relax in our comfortable bar, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy real ales and handpicked wines - or you want to experience superb gourmet food served in our spacious restaurant.

Too often, when the words pub and restaurant are found together, the reality is something that is neither; genuine exceptions to this rule are few, but thankfully for residents of Oxford and visitors to the city, the Rickety is most definitely one of them!

Everyone in our young, knowledgeable team cares passionately about each dish we prepare, and every drink we serve. In fact, there’s only one thing we love as much as the excitement of creating great food and drink, and that’s sharing it with our customers. Our approach is simple; we are committed to delivering the best food and drink experience - and equally determined to do away with the stuffiness and formality that can sometimes go hand in hand with fare of this quality. In short, we believe the relaxed ambience of the Rickety makes everything taste even better!

Rose and Crown
Sunday Opens : 11:00 | Closes : 01:00

Rose and Crown

add to fav
The pint-sized Rose and Crown is of interest historically, as it reflects the development of central north Oxford in the last century. Before 1860, the land upon which it stands, between St. Giles church and the village of Summertown, was farmland owned by St. John’s College. Speculators combined to buy up land and build houses there.

Royal Blenheim

add to fav
I often hear people say “I’m thinking of retiring and running a pub”. Well let me tell all the people living in dream land, it’s not as easy as it looks!

When we decided to open the pub in Oxford to be the White Horse Brewery ‘tap’, the hardest part of the process was finding someone that understood what we wanted to achieve.

We have a real passion for cask ale, which you can see after the pub made it into the Good Beer Guide after only a year and also being voted one of top four cask ale pubs in Oxford!

Duncan runs a great kitchen sourcing as many ingredients as he can get from local producers in the Covered Market. Some of the great homemade food available on the menu at the Royal Blenheim includes wonderful chilli and freshly batted fish to name but a few. And that is without mentioning the number of vegetarian and vegan choices available, so there really is something for everyone!

But don’t just take my word for it, come on down and meet the team
